You look around and you will find that there are people who take care of their body not only look good but some how are more energetic and have radiant faces oozing happiness. Most of the people would say that there is not enough time to take care of their health, usually get fatigued due to stressful daily routine.

We live in this new age where life is fast paced. A push-button technology savvy society were time is squeezed to do as much work as possible, leaving nothing for our health. In addition to almost nil physical activities, eating unhealthy food with tons of saturated fat and refined sugars, results into poor physical health causing serious ailments like depression, degenerative diseases of heart and lungs, diabetes and fatal diseases like cancer. It is a vicious cycle, the less you take care of your health more stressed you will get resulting in reduction of overall efficiency.

It is never too late to start taking care of your health. The first thing to do is have a firm mind, make up your mind, promise yourself and stick to your promise. Try to start with waking up just half an hour early in the morning. A brisk half an hour walk in fresh air will certainly feel rejuvenating. Increase your work out regime one step at a time. Slowly and gradually your body will get used to it. It is not important, how much you exercised, it is how long you can keep it up. Slow and steady wins the race. Try taking the stairs instead of the elevator whenever you can. You can even pace while you are talking on your mobile phone.

Some people only focus on exercising, thinking that it does not matter what they eat, it's going to get burnt anyway. It certainly does not work like that. Just to burn one calorie, you'd have to walk for at least three kilometers. You can imagine what would you have to do to get rid of the quarter-pounder that you ate from your body. So the trick is a healthy diet and a long term exercise program that fits your schedule. To make sure that you eat healthy, think about what kind of work schedule do you have. Some journals suggest eating  low- GI food, it means food with low glycemic index. Low-GI food release energy slowly allowing you to eat less calories without feeling hungry for a longer time. So if you have a more sedentary life style this is the best kind of food for you. So start your day with a low-GI breakfast, it will keep you full for longer and also provide your brain with energy when it needs the most.

The bottom line is that you need to take care of yourself because you deserve it. A healthy diet and a good exercise regime with long term goals is what will make your life happy. Living life should not be drudgery but memories that you can look back and smile at.
